Film & Video Department
Directing Facilities
1415 S. Wabash
The Theatre & Film Annex at 1415 S. Wabash houses the
Directing Center for the Film and Video Department. It consists
of two stages and an equipment/prop storage room. The large
stage (114) is 2,800 sq. ft. (roughly 40'x70'), and has a
14' high pipe grid for hanging lights, two 900 amp power supply
on each end of the stage, and enough flats, lights, and grip
equipment to support student shoots. There is one dolly for
the stage with a pump action jib arm and 16' of straight track.
This space is used primarily for Directing II and Directing
for the Camera classes, as well as being available to Independent
Projects as a shooting stage.
The smaller stage (115) is 1,000 sq. ft (roughly 20'x50'),
has black walls, a 14' high pipe grid, and its own 900 amp
power supply. This classroom is used primarily for Directing
I and Acting Techniques for the Filmmaker classes, but is
also available for smaller shooting projects. The equipment/prop
storage room is accessible to both stages, with enough furniture
and props to support several simultaneous class projects.
In addition to the stages, the 1415 S. Wabash facility also
houses the Costume Shop for the Theater Dept. Costumes may
be used by Film/Video students after completing a form available
directly from the Costume Shop, and signed by an appropriate
advisor. Please contact the Costume Shop at 312-344-6605 with
questions well in advance of your shoot.
